Cinderella’s
Sister
Bella, a fifteen
year old girl, has a long curly hair with big eyes. Her eyes shining like the
most twinkling start in the sky. Everyone is enjoying talking with Bella for
her gorgeous and special eyes which seems to be talking to others.
Bella not only has a charming appearance
but also a great father, Bill Barber, who almost dote her deeply. Her father
owns a company of department stores. Mr. Barber regards his wife’s died of
illness as his fault because of the busy business trade. In that cause, he put
all his love into Bella’s life. Bella has thousands and hundreds countless
beautiful clothes in her wardrobe. In other world, she never dresses the same
clothes for many years. She has a full-time driver who can take her school
every day. She has less pressure on the study. Even if she get low grade, her
father never blame her just conger her “looking forward your next time can be better”.
What’s her favorite is that she has a huge water bed. She is found of making
every strange pose lying on the bed. However, the most let her friends envy thing
is that Bella has a handsome and outstand two-year older “brother”, Neil, who
appears in every girl’s dream. What’s more, Neil, living in neighbor, has been accompanying
Bella almost her whole life because of her father lacking of time for being
with her. They spend the happiest and saddest time with each other. Bella
relies on her “brother” deeply by sharing her feeling. She doesn’t have so much
confusing time to complain her life because there is nothing to complain. When
she broke up with her boyfriend, she felt so sad with tears to find Neil.
“Why Sam be with jenny? I hate jenny.” Bella
stared at the bookshelf so Neil can’t tell her expression.
“Jenny neither. She told me.” Neil
walked to bookshelf take an outsider
and opened it in a casual way.
“I can’t stand her. Why must her? Sam
has lunch with her every day in front of me.” said with her eyes casting down.
“They will never get together.”
“Why? ... Because jenny expresses
herself to you, right?” Bella turned around immediately and looked at her “brother”
sitting in front of the window.
Neil was reading
in silent without answer.
“Ha-ha, poor Sam.” Her big eyes reappeared
energy. She smiled “let me think what we would have for dinner.”
Bella is pure like a lotus flower. Nothing
bad influences her life. In one word, Bella is totally a princess.
One day, when her father took a kind
woman and a girl in front of her and told her she will have a new mother and
sister from now on, she is never that little princess any more.
Bill takes a 2 year-older girl with
short hair and said to Bella “My girl, this is Carrie, do you feel excited that
you have a sister to life with you?” Bella look at that girl who stands in
backlighting, the sunshine is too bright to make her eyes open to so she never
remember Carrie’s expression at that time which also cover that girl as her body
is plated on the golden light. “Angel?” she just blurts out what she thinking
about. Then she rushed to huge her new sister saying loudly “Nice to meet you,
my angel sister!” However, Carrie just get rid of her arms and come into her
room. Bella follow her and show her cute toys.
“This is my favorite teddy, his name is
Mike. Do you think it is so lovely?”
“I don’t like toys” Carries says
arranging her luggage without giving her one eye.
“I have much pretty clothes. We can
share with each other. I dream having a sister to change clothes.”
“I don’t like your pink clothes.”
Carries finish putting her clothes into a drawer.
“Do you like comic? I have the last NANA if you want……”
“I don’t.”
“All right, tomorrow morning my driver
can take us to school together. You must be not familiar with the new school.”
“I prefer going on foot.” Carries stand
by the opening door and stare at Bella impatiently.
Bella Shrugs her shoulder walking toward
to leave with “welcome to my home!”
After few mouths, Bella totally feel
that Carrie don’t like her and her family. No matter she does what to get close
to Carrie, she always gets the cold rejection. She can’t get into Carrie’s
world.
Bella can’t image what Carrie experience
in her childhood. Carrie’s mother had married to a lot of man. Since Carrie had
the memory, she wanders around and transfers from one school to another.
Because she gets used to fickleness of worldly relationship between human, she
never trust anyone and is not willing to treat others politely. She doesn’t
need friend and family and always with a look of indifference.
The appearing of Carrie is just like a
mirror which reflects Bella’s bad sides. They are entirely different. When she
hangs out with friend shopping or having afternoon tea, Carrie just stay at
home read books alone. When she hide the transcript with “C” in the bottom of
her drawer, Carrie’s report with all “A” makes her father laugh loudly and heartily. When she throws a
tantrum to her father for asking a last Prada handbag, Carrie pays all her
tuition herself by doing several part time jobs. She find Carrie not only loot
the love of her father, but also steal her brother. She can understand them no
matter the Kundera, Kafka, and Camus what they are talking about or Capital or
the root of financial crisis. Neil has fewer and fewer time to listen her mind.
He seems prefer to spending time with Carrie.
Bella never feel so deep upset. The
whole world changes after Carrie come. Everything never comes back. Bella don’t
know when she begins to hate Carrie who take place of her and enjoy what should
be belonged to her. She even decides to revenge. She cries for Carrie’s unfriendly
treatment to her father. She begins to say bad things of Carrie to her friends.
Whatever Carries does can be exaggerated embellishment to treat bad for her. Everyone
hears about it express the sympathy to Bella because she is the poor Cinderella
and spreads the rumor around the school. Because of the bad relationship with
other or the strong influence from jealous or the affairs of ambiguity with
Neil, no one likes Carrie, no one treat her friendly. People hate her as the
sister of Cinderella. However, Carrie does not care anything. She just does
what she did. Only Neil stays with her as usual or even gets closer. Carrie is
that kind of person, nothing influent her.
As time pass by, 10 years later, Bella
becomes more beautiful, she still have more new clothes than she needs and a
large sum of expensive handbags. She knows how to use make up to make her look
wonderful. Her big eyes, covering with strong eye lines, heavy eye shadow and dense
mascara, is already no longer shining as before and they lost the ability of
talking to others. She does not have stable job. What she does every day is
dating with different guys.
After 4 years studying in Harvard
University by majoring MBA, Carrie takes over the department company from Bill
gradually. Now she has a black straight long hair still with an apathetic. Few
mouths ago, she just betrothed herself to Neil who manages his own company
successfully. Every one admires her, because she becomes a powerful woman and
gets harvest in both cause and love.
Today, Carrie is asked to accompany
Bella joining the competition of ballet. Bella have been learning ballet for
several years, but she never gets any prize. Neither did this time. On the way
home in the car driven by Carrie, Bella cries heavily like a tap which is
pushed the never stop button by someone. The radio is playing dying in the sun by The Cranberries. The
used tissues is everywhere in the car.
Carrie frowns impatiently and turns off
the radio player. “When will you going to finish?”
“I ……just can’t control. Why god doesn’t
give me just one time get the prize?” Bella looks at the view outside the
window.
“You really want to know?”
“Tell me.”
“Look at your feet. That is not the foot
of ballet player. You’d better to have a look at the foot of real ballet
player.”
“What’s wrong with my feet?”
“Every professional ballet player must
have a pair of feet with out of shape seriously. That’s the result of exercising
and a stand great pain from feet thousands and hundreds days by days. Obviously
you are afraid of the pain.” Carrie says in flat voice.
Bella suddenly turn to Carrie looking at
her eyes in shocked. Then she keeps in silent for a longtime with staring at
her tiptoe which covered by the new Dior stiletto heels in season. That pair of
shoes is advertised as the crystal shoes of Cinderella.
“You
know? I hate you for a long time.” Bella break up the silence. “You are so brilliant.
No one see me. Dad loves you. Neil loves you. Everyone loves you. I am the redundant
one.” She gulps down a sob as muttering to herself.
“Me neither. You regard yourself as the Cinderella
but you are a loser in my mind.” Carrie stops the car for waiting the red light
and turn to Bella. “You never know hard working is the necessary path to the success.
What you only do is getting something in nothing. I know you like Neil
actually, but you do nothing.”
“I try……but……I can’t finish anything.”
Bella starts to cry again. Tears wash her make up as dropping down two She
thought she was the poorest one in the world. Now she realizes she just cheat
herself. Carrie is just the excuse for her to escape the challenge in her life.
She is afraid to endure hardship.
The music restarts to play. Carrie
concentrates on driving again like no one talking just now.
Bella stops her
tears and stares at the quick passing scenery outside the window. Her shining
eyes come back. She know that it’s not too late to start relearning ballet.
